A Look at Emirates Success During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Emirates has received several awards in 2020 despite the Covid-19 outbreak. The awards include a top spot in ‘Business Traveller Middle East Awards 2020’, ‘Best Airline Worldwide,’ ‘Airline with best cabin crew,’ ‘Airline with Best First Class’ and the ‘Best Airport Lounge in the Middle East.’ We take a look at the reasons behind the carrier’s success, in what has been a turbulent year for the industry.

Emirates Covid-19 Policies

These all rewards are showing the commitment of Emirates towards a better customer experience. The airline has supported its customers a lot in the Covid-19 outbreak. Emirates has transformed its policies according to customer expectations in this pandemic. They have developed efficient health and safety measures to ensure flexibility, travel assurance, and confidence in Emirates for customers. Emirates was the first airline to offer free Covid-19 regarding services such as 14 days quarantine, protection equipment, and health and safety. They would bear the medical expenses of up to EUR 150000 and a per-day quarantine cost of EUR 100 for 14 days if someone got diagnosed with Covid-19 during the travel.

Biosafety Measures

Emirates has had a prioritisation of health and safety throughout, along with better customer experience than their competitors. Biosafety measures introduced in March 2020 continue to today, and include hygiene kits, personal protective equipment (PPE), protective barriers at check-in counters, rigorous aircraft cleaning procedures, and disinfecting the aircraft every 45 minutes – quite a feat! They also review these measures with expert teams both domestically and internationally. They also restarted their onboard experiences, such as shower, spa, and social areas, in Business and First Class on limited Boing 777 aircraft, with additional health and safety measures in-place.

Restarting Closed Services

Emirates’ first-class experience has taken the flying experience to a whole new level. Its innovative products like an in-flight shower spa, private suites, onboard lounge, and many more have still given them a competitive advantage over others. These all services were temporarily closed, but they are restored on selected aircraft. Emirates premium customers can enjoy the Business Class lounge in Concourse A, B, and C in Dubai. Its state of the art services are gradually reviving again, onboard its post-pandemic services.
